The “Flame of Hope” was lit, on the 15th April 2005, on Church Green at a ceremony hosted by the Olympian Society. The torch then left on the first stage of its journey to the National Special Olympic Games in July

Norman Wood

This web site is also a tribute to Norman Wood, former President of Wenlock Olympian Society, whose vision for wider, universal, recognition of Dr William Penny Brookes' influence on Modern Olympianism remains undiminished. Sadly Norman passed away in April 2005.
