Jonathan Edwards CBE has accepted the post of President of the Wenlock Olympian Society.
The announcement was made at the Society’s AGM on Thursday 17th November.

Olympic Flame to Visit Much Wenlock on its Way to London 2012
It has been announced that the London 2012 Olympic torch will light up the Shropshire communities of Ludlow, Clee Hill and Cleobury Mortimer on 24th May, and on 30th May it will pass through Oswestry, Pant, Llanymynech, Shrewsbury, Cressage en route to the historic part of its journey as it passes through the former ancient Borough of Wenlock - including Benthall, Broseley, Ironbridge and Much Wenlock.

Wenlock Olympian Artefacts on Display in British Museum
A selection of artefacts from the Wemlock Olympian Society are now on display in the British Museum as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Midlands Glory Concert at Ironbridge
Wenlock Olympian Society and Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust are proud to support this spectacular concert taking place on Saturday 7th July 2012 celebrating the startling achievements in sport, industry and the arts across the Midlands.

Enter the Sports Relief Much Wenlock Olympian Mile
The Sports Relief Much Wenlock Olympian Mile and Be Active Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday 25th March 2012 from 1-5pm at Much Wenlock Leisure Centre, Farrley Road, Much Wenlock.

Funding success for Shropshire International Dance Project
The Edge Arts Centre, William Brookes School and Shropshire Council have been successful in gaining major funding for an exciting dance and film project in conjunction with next year’s Olympic and Paralympic celebrations.

The most successful Wenlock Olympian Games to date
12 July 2011: It has been a full and lively Festival taking place on six sites across Shropshire with around 2,500 competitors enjoying five days of sports

Much Wenlock hosts special screening of new mascot film
1 March 2011: The West Midlands Leadership Group for the 2012 Games, Wenlock Olympian Society and the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) hosted a special screening of the latest instalment of the London 2012 mascot film – ‘Adventures on a Rainbow’ on Tuesday 1 March 2011 at William Brookes School, Much Wenlock.

Jonathan Edwards launches Community Games
27 May 2010: Jonathan Edwards, Deputy Chair of LOCOG Nations and Regions and Vice President of the Wenlock Olympian Society visited Much Wenlock on 27 May to launch one of the region’s major cultural programmes, Community Games.

Mascot named after Much Wenlock
19 May 2010: Wenlock Olympian Society's PR Secretary, Helen Clare Cromarty, expressed the amazement and pride felt by the Society and the town of Wenlock when  she described the unveiling of the Olympic Mascots' names on 19th May 2010 to a startled audience of locals, dignitories and Society members.
