Wenlock Olympian Games TriathlonThe 28th running of the Wenlock Triathlon took place on Sunday 8th July.  The event was contested over 500m swim in Much Wenlock leisure centre, a 19km bike from Much Wenlock through Buildwas, Leighton, Cressage and Sheinton, and a 7km run which took the athletes through trails and roads to Wyke before finally finishing on the Gaskell field in Much Wenlock, at the foot of the oak tree which Baron Pierre de Coubertin planted in October 1990.  There were 57 finishers on a brutally hot day and first man home was Paul Rogers in a time of 1:14:12, and first lady home was Rachel Parker in a time of 1:21:34 who both received gold medals.  Other medallists were Men’s overall silver: Mark Griffiths, bonze: Matthew French.  Women’s overall silver: Rachel Simms, bronze: Juliet Suddaby.  A full listing of results including all age group categories can be found here: 28th Wenlock Olympian Triathlon 2018 – Results.
