Road Race

Wenlock Olympian Games Road RaceThe annual Wenlock Olympian Road Race is a classic roadrunning
event that starts and finishes on the historic Linden Field in Much Wenlock.

The race has been a highlight of the Games programme for more than 20 years and is open to athletes over the age of 18 years no matter what their ability. The event is all about the taking part.

The route of the race is along the undulating picturesque countryside surrounding Much Wenlock, and mainly through the old Wenlock Borough. The finish is adjacent to the William Penny Brookes School at the memorial oak tree planted in 1890 by Baron Coubertin to commemorate his visit.

Every runner who completes the race will receive a unique Wenlock Olympian Road Race participation medal. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to winners in their respective age and gender category.

Please note that a kit tent will be available for road race entrants.

Past entrants have travelled from Sweden, Germany, Holland, New Zealand and Norway to compete in the race, and top ranked athletes have included: Chris Davies, Mark Flint, Olly Laws, David Moorcroft and Amanda Wright-Smith. Enjoy the occasion!
